What's Inspiring Me For Autumn

What's Inspiring Me For Autumn

Every year, once my birthday passes, I’m suddenly in the mood for fall fashion. Now that it’s August, I think it’s officially okay to start shopping for fall wardrobe pieces!

Last weekend Pinterest just was not doing it for me inspiration wise so I turned to eBay. Not only do I shop on eBay but I also use it as an “manifestation board” - I save things I find inspiring so that when I’m out thrifting I can reference back to things I’m looking for. You would not believe how many times I’ve found something similar - or the exact time - after doing this.

I’m feeling nostalgic for fall this year so I’m looking for knee length shorts, 90’s kitten heels, and riding boots. Plaid. Corsets. 90’s minus the grunge. Comfy without athleisure. Classic but not dated. More olive green. More brown. Less black. Chunky jewelry. Luxurious materials. Elevated daywear that feels sophisticated, comfortable, and easy.

Shorts for Fall

I’m loving a longer short for fall in leather, a coated denim or a wool plaid. The longer length is feeling more ladylike and vintage. Remember in the 2000’s when we were wearing short plaid shorts with sky high heels? We’ve grown up and now our shorts have gotten longer. Pair with a simple kitten heel.

Plaid for fall, groundbreaking

Plaid is A L W A Y S on my shopping list, no matter the season. I love plaid in so many ways, but this season I’m loving a green plaid even more. This plaid cape coat from Chloe is inspiring my entire vision for fall. I’m obsessed with finding a pair of plaid almost knee-length shorts for fall. One tip when thrifting: make sure to check the men’s section when thrifting plaid shirts - they’re usually much cheaper than the women’s section AND have a better fit.

Olive green + Burgundy

Nature definitely inspires this color palette! Olive green is basically a neutral in my wardrobe at this point, it goes with everything and it’s the one “color” I consistently stick with. I’ll be looking for a pair of twill wide leg cropped pants.

No matter what it’s being rebranded as - oxblood, maroon, bordeaux - burgundy is another color that I flock to each autumn. This year I’m looking for accessories in burgundy like a chic ballet flat or a structured handbag.

Bold gold pieces

Oversize gold necklaces. Chunky gold chain belts. Bold pieces that will elevate any basic outfit. Two years ago I actually bought a Chanel-inspired gold chain belt, I’m thinking now is the time to pull it out.
